SCAM: Secret Shopper, Mystery Shopper and Detective Shopper Scams

There are several of these emails going around. I have listed a few of them below. I have also created a video that explains the scam, just press play below.

How The Scam Works

This scam is similar to many other scams, however, this scam is disguised much better. Here are the steps of the scam:

  • First, you receive a recruitment email from a secret shopper service, sometimes called SS-Network, Link Sole Services LLC, or a variety of other names. The recruiter tells you that you have been selected for an assignment as a secret shopper in your area. You will get $200-$300 dollars and will receive a packet that will have the funds for shopping. All you need to do is send them your name, address, age, occupation and an alternative email address.
  • After they receive your information, you will receive another email with your instructions and a USPS tracking number. In this you will be given instructions. The instructions are listed below.
  • You then will receive by mail a money order for a large amount of money. This is normally several thousand dollars. The money order looks legit. Per instructions, you are to cash this at your bank, subtract your payment ($200-$300) and then proceed to Walmart and spend $20 on any item you want.
  • Now you are to survey you experience at Walmart. This is where the scammer is trying to gain your trust. Their goal is to make this secret shopping scam seem real so that you don’t expect anything.
  • Your next assignment is to either send the money to another secret shopper or secret shop Western Union. You are to send the remainder of your balance to the person listed in your instruction email. Once the money is sent, you are to take note of how the service was and send them back an email letting them know your survey results as well as the transaction number.
  • A few days later, or even a week later, your bank rejects the money order since they realize it is a fake and the funds are removed from your account.
As you see, this is just a play on many other scams. If you receive an email asking you to be a secret shopper and it smells fishy, DELETE IT! Most secret shopping networks will have an official website where you setup your account. Normally, the amounts they have you performing your secret shop with is lower amounts. They also never ask for you to send back the remainder of the balance.

Congratulations, We would like to let you know that you have been selected in your area. We do have all the required details needed and we are happy to congratulate you on your new employment. So I have documented a file for you and it’s in record.

Shopper’s Guide wants you to run a survey on two prominent companies in your area.

The 1st is a WalMart Store
The 2nd is a Western Union/MoneyGram Location

A Check/Money order of between ($800 – $2,850) will be mailed out to you to carry out the Evaluation.
The funds have been calculated to cover both aspects of this survey. You will be allocated $100 for the Walmart shopping section.

All you have to do is walk into any of its location buy, buy and buy till you exhaust the money provided for this section, but you have to be in the store for at least 30 minutes, watching and taking note of everything (Remember that everything you buy is totally yours).

The management of Walmart intends to change the store’s environment, color, gift items and shopping/carrier bags etc, we are also looking into putting a stop to poor services. For these reasons we have decided to give the customers the opportunity to decide.

NOTE: You are to keep the WalMart receipt of everything you buy to the report.

Unbalanced exchange rate

To make a transfer of funds from the location to our agent with the remaining funds after you complete your first task.Funds would be picked up by our agent at the exact location which a customer reported his/her funds missing from.

You will have to record the time at which you got to the Western union/MoneyGram Outlet and how many minutes it took you to get the service.

You will also provide us with the Name of the cashier that attended to you along with the Address of the WalMart store.

You will be paid a commission of $100 for completing both tasks. Also you will be on a basic monthly salary of $1000.00 which you will be receiving every last day of the month end. Your reports should be drafted and sent to me via email immediately the assignment has been completed.

    For a Walmart 2Walmart Transfer Service Survey.
    I was sent a check for 1940.00. I emailed the person back at the email listed to ask if this was a legit check. My question was never addressed, but I was giving instructions on what to do. I started feeling suspicious at that point, and decided to check online to see if this is a FRAUD… It is!!?

  5. I received an email from “[email protected]” and it was signed by ”Mark Spencer” as Research/Evaluation Team.
    Unfortunately I sent back all my information which I was asked for, because I was looking for mystery shopping jobs at that time. I received a check from them today in the amount of $ 2965.35 Peoples Bank Lynden, WA. I checked the bank’s routing number and it’s different on the check. The letter they enclosed says not to cash it but to deposit in the bank immediately within 24 hrs.
    Just because of the amount of the check I was shocked and that’s how I thought it should be a scam.
    Below is the emails I received from them, there were text messages as well. I was supposed to receive another email with the necessary instructions according to their letter which they enclosed with the check, but I didn’t.

    • You’d have to ask a banking professional, but it’s not that simple. A scammer can use real paper and existing banks.

      The checking system was designed to trust checks upon deposit many years ago, a decision made long before the Internet and today’s printers.

      To verify a check today, merchants use a service. (like ChexSystems)

      Or suspect it is bad and show it to bank manager.

      Yes we have technology to detect or inspect checks. Banks keep records of bad checks in a database and share it. But someone has to look this up.

      I stopped using checks last time I changed my bank a year ago. Debit card, credit card or cash. (Along with online wallets.)

I did receive one of these scams, and stupid me opened the email, so now I have a check and instructions, but my gut told me not to go to the bank because I didn’t want to put myself in jeopardy.     Wanted to buy it, but wished to send a cheque….alarm bells. I said sure send me the cheque and once it clears i will send on the item. All the time im chuckling to myself knowing this is a scam.
    He is in constant contact, is all ok, are we good, do i still get the item etc…..of course i molify him, yup all good just waiting on your cheque (im British in case you wonder on the spelling 😉
    2 days later he gives me a usps tracking number, i check it and something is on the way. His package arrives, i open it and start laughing my arse off.
    I was selling the camera for $75.00 He sends me a cheque for $800.00 and im thinking well thanks buddy……keep the change I guess!

    Cheque was from one address, package from another, 2 different company names. So I do a little investigating for poops and giggles. Both companies exist, one is a golf and country club(legit) the other is some dodgy looking food outsourcing service with a clueless website, hashed together with string and bubble gum!
    The bank routing number is legit, but no bank address or banks logo on said cheque.

    So I show my wife later on, she giggles away and says Can we take it to the bank, all the time smirking away. Were heading out anyway, so why not!
    Our bank lady takes one look and shuts it down as a scam in less than 2 seconds……its nice to get the final confirmation (when you need cash that temptation to take a chance is a compulsive little beasty)

    Well I feel bad, so I figure the next day im going to get the number for the country club and let them know someone is counterfeiting cheques in their name. Wouldn’t you know………they had no idea, i chatted with the owner, nice chap, we had a laugh about it afterwards…….i asked if he had any disgruntled employees or ex wives he had forgotten about?
    (no offense intended ladies, I had one myself once……but that’s another story about a hateful creature that resides under a stone bridge)!
    Anyhow, the cheque we handed to the local police dept in town, nothing they can really do but I suggested they could contact the admin at Letgo see if this Barrett guy left any sign in details etc? Doubtful though.

    The ages old moral stands true today more than ever guys……..”If it seems Too good to be True”
    I know we struggle more than ever in a world gone mad these days, to make ends meet and provide as best we can.
    As much as passion can override good sense, and the what if’s are prevalent……..go with your first instinct with anything like this…….if your gut gives you that sinking feeling, Trust that feeling and protect you and yours.

    These scamners have Zero right to take what you have rightfully earned, or from anyone else either, business owners are no different, they struggle like the rest of us.
    Stay vigilant folks, look after yourselves and your loved ones, and each other.

    As for me! Well im off to dress up as Batman and stand on the edge of my couch keeping a watchful eye for trouble!

I find it very disheartening that when I ask the police how I can report this scam I was told that if there was no personal loss to me, there was no crime. I feel bad for the people that are not as synical as myself and fall for it. I googled all the info I could from this letter, none of this exists. The phone numbers go to voice mail. The people that follow the instructions on the letter have now given the criminals all their banking info. It’s shameful.

  57. I always receive these emails and I politely DELETE. I already know it’s a scam and know better . There is no easy money , only effort and hard work. There may be some who are legit, however every company will have access to their company site and you will be able to findo them on a google search. Also, companies with job opportunities use a professional format, with header, links, company discretion, not to mention due to employement laws and equal opportunity guidelines all applications and affirmative action voluntary information will always be through a separate link to complete. This is federal policy in America for fair employment all companies must follow through the application process. I wish they would not have access to my email so much! ?

  63. Dang, I almost fell for this scam!
    They were very persistent in pushing me along with texts and even phone calls.
    After I got the $2935 check, they really wanted me to confirm deposit in my bank. So, they called me twice and when I called them back, a man with an accent answered on a bad telephone line. He asked me if I have deposited the check and I said no. “Why” he responds. Then he got defensive when I asked for more info on the company. Finally, I thought SCAM (and feel stupid).

  66. I found a similar thing on craigslist so I sent the email with my name and address and such and then received something in the mail today.
    I immediately knew it was a scam…
    The address on the package is a Construction company in North Hollywood, CA and the check came from Baton Rouge, LA.
    They are texting people now too and the number they text me from was from OH. Seriously. How twisted can you get.
    I also looked up the financial institution the bank was “cut” from and the bank is legit but I looked up the routing number and it is different, plus the account is only 9digits instead of 10 like the website shows it should have.

Got moneygram check by ups envelope, cashed it now have to go to bank and tell them what is going on, try to get it reversed and go from there… I told a friend about it and she instantly told me it was a scam. Googled ss-network and found this forum. I just wish I went with my gut in the first place thinking this was too good to be true… lesson learned that’s for sure!!!!!!

    Well, who would have believed this. When I saw a comment
    by one Allison babara, I thought it was one of the Scammers
    ways to convince someone. Looking at his comment, I saw
    an element of doubt since he was telling stories. Well I did it
    50/50 which means I can’t lose my money to any scammer
    again. I contacted the email on the testimony of Allison
    Babara ([email protected]) and I was
    replied immediately. I was shocked but I didn’t lose my stand.
    I asked them to give me proof to be sure they are not
    scammers like others that I have met before and they sent me
    a proof. Then I requested to get my card which they sent to
    me in Germany in just 3 days. Am happy now because I have
    recovered my cash I lost to scammers. My first withdrawal
    was $10,000 and I couldn’t believe my eyes until I confirmed
    their word which says that I can withdraw up $63,000 in a
    month. WorldblankatmSolution are real because I got my?
    card in just 3 days when I requested for one. Contact their

The check no. 007139 was drafted from Midwest Carpenters & Millwrights Federal Credit Union in Hobart, IN (remitter: Ashley Brown). I received this check via Priority Mail from a sender by the name of Rebecca Delaney that apparently works for Automatic Controls Company, Inc., which is located in Norcross, GA. The included instructions letter instructed me to send two Money Grams in the amount of $2,560.00 to a Mr. Brad Johnson whose physical address is 7067 Morecambre Dr., San Jose, CA. 95120. I will be contacting the local authorities with all the information that I have included above. I hope this helps someone. Thanks.

  96. Beware, I was texted to verify my address to be a secret shopper. They had my cell number and address… once I got a check for over $8000, I called the bank on the check and I found out immediately that the check was Fake! Today I received an instruction letters from MSG Shoppers with a US Postal Office money order for $981 and a text to verify I received the priority mail envelope (they are tracking their scams to their victims through priority mail…which adds legitimacy to their scam). I am reporting to the post office tomorrow and may file a complaint with local police. I realized it is a scam but the counterfeit check and money order are excellent fakes but the backs do not have watermarks or other marking usually found on the backs….

    so i did some research. The lady who sent the the email (Melinda Campbell) was scam artist with a trucking company. The 2 people that i am supposed to send the money grams to exist but story’s dont add up. Michael Hastings was a journalist that passed away in 2013 due to a car accident and Marcus Robertson is a Famous football player for the Raiders. I also google street viewed the address that sent me the mail… its a empty lot. No home or driveway is in this address. Thank god i did my research before i put this check into my account!

  143. Email I received yesterday, with two attachments (couldn’t post here). One was the full instructions of what I will be doing and who I will be sending the money. The second was the “evaluation form” for Wal Mart and Money Gram. I knew this was a scam immediately, no company would EVER tell you to send money grams. I also called the credit union listed on the check and confirmed it was a fake check but also wanted to more so let them know about the scam with their name on it. The lady told me a bunch of their checks were stolen a while back and they’re still circulating…. She said one more fake check won’t make any difference and there wasn’t anything else I could do to report this. They also spelled my name wrong on the check which is hilarious to me. I just sent them an email back trying to mess with them asking them to send me a new check so I can complete the task as quickly as possible and do more work for them! I’m going to drag this out, have them spend as much money on priority mail shipping as I possibly can and see how far I can take it with messing with these people. Will update!

      • Hi Dave! I knew it was a scam right off the bat but even still I called the bank to ask about the validity of the check and to report it. They said it was fake and they knew about it, nothing they could do about it. But I really wanted to mess with these people so I wrote take an email back saying they miss spelled my first name so I could not deposit the check ask them to send a new one with the correct spelling (trying to get them to waste as much time and money on certified/priority mail as possible) but shockingly they never responded to me! I’ll just end up shredding everything and continue to post on websites like this/my own Facebook to warn people! I don’t know what else to do to report them!

    I also received today, 8/22/2016, what looked like a Priority Mail envelope with a letter from National Shopping Service Network. It’s a long letter and since it’s a hard copy, there is no way to copy and paste it here. What it boils down to is: They sent me a “certified” check for $2,455 (from WOODFOREST National Bank in The Woodlands, Tx) and told me I was “required” to cash or deposit it in my bank account, then wait for the funds to be available the next day for withdrawal. Then I was told to visit the closest Walmart store and purchase FOUR $550 Kroger reload vouchers. After doing this, they “expected” me to scratch the silver panel on the vouchers and send them the reload voucher reference numbers. (Does Walmart even sell Kroger Reload Vouchers?)

    I knew it was a scam before I even googled the company. No one sends that amount of money to someone they don’t know. Sure, I’d love to have the money, but there is no way I would even think of depositing that fake check into my bank account. I hope and pray no innocent/naive people fall for this scam. These scammers seem to contact people they know are low income and who they think would jump at the chance of having that amount of money. I will be reporting the email, text, hard copy letter and check.

    My advice is, if you don’t recognize the name of the person or the company, do not respond to them at all. Report any correspondence you receive and move on with your life.

    • I received nearly an identical letter (after the same emails and texts) with a $2955 check from Woodforest National Bank (I contacted the bank and gave them the check # and date of issue and it doesn’t exist in their system). I don’t understand how depositing this check into your account gives these scammers an open invitation to the funds in your account, but somehow it must. I just don’t get it. And what are we supposed to do with the Kroger reload vouchers (yeah, really, at Walmart!?) after buying them and evaluating the worker? Just send a photo of them to the assigned email address of [email protected]? Then what? This is the stupidest scam I could imagine. Totally asinine. Oh, my HR manager was Bruce Mcintosh.

    In today’s world we can send a man to mars,but no ones seem to care
    or catch these people, who are making $0,000.00 of dollars.
    I was recently scam for lots of money. And I never seen it coming, because
    I was told by the unemployment office, that I could sign up on line for
    unemployment, So I did try, but it wasn’t worth. So right after that, I started
    getting job offers to discourage me from drawing unemployment.
    Some how these people are able to hack in to the unemployment
    system, to get people E-Mail Address.
    So you see, I would have never suspect anything.
    But I will tell you that this secret shopper scam was better than any of the
    ones you have posted.
    No one seem’s to care to stop this. So I see no reason to share my E-mail
    assignment scam.
    Until the number’s of people that are getting scam, reach a higher
    number,maybe then someone will take the time to track them down.
    After all, I still think it is a crime to write bad checks.

  156. I received an email forwarded to me about this secret shopper job. I emailed Brenda Atkins. She asked for my address and cell. I received a priority mail envelope with a cashier’s check for $1890 and some weird directions to purchase two $500 Vanilla Visa Cards and $15 of aspirin from Walgreens, etc. and take notes, as well as photos of cards. I deposited but sat on it before Googling and finding out similar scams. Sure enough, my bank returned check as counterfeit. Have filed reports with FTC and US Postal Service.

  162. WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE????? Don’t believe anything coming into your emails, unless you know for sure, who they are, and what company they represent. Take a few moments to do research, by googling the email address or the companies name. I wouldn’t waste my time anyway, but at least YOU will know. If you want to be a secret shopper, then join the list of hundreds of people waiting for jobs like this.

    These types of jobs, are usually set up by corporate of the companies themselves, not outside people. If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is a scam.

    [email protected] – I believe to be another scam. When reading the body of the email, watch out for grammar/spelling, that usually tells you it’s a foreign place, which can lead to no good. It sounds like such an easy job, and by the way, the real companies pay $25 to $40 a shop, depending on the area, not $200-$300, that’s ridiculous.

  168. I believe I have been drawn into this scam too. However, I have not received the money yet, A Mark Tyler contacted me and gave me assignments and told me that they are sending $1450.00. I am to keep $125 for myself for each store I go to, so $250 for me, I am to take $100 and go to the assigned Wal-Mart Store, and then go to the assigned Lowes store where I am to meet up with another Mystery Shopper and give them some of the cash. He did say that I was to IMMEDIATE got to my bank and cash or deposit the check. I am also to send him a copy of the receipts from the stores and my deposit slip. I am thanking God I have my inner sceptic always going and have googled this before I git into it deeper.

I also received an email to join as a mystery shopper I sent them my name address and phone number today I received an priority mail envelope with a cashiers check in it for 2240 I was to keep the 240 and send two amounts thru money gram and western union to two people named on the paper lol really I don’t think so some people aren’t that dumb I called the bank that the cashiers check was written off of they told me that they had several fraudulent checks going around and that was one of them

  196. …but the other issue is that banks need to educate their tellers much better about these matters. My friend took the checks/money orders to the bank and even asked if they though they were legit. The teller just looked at them and said ‘well, they look ok to me…’ That was the wrong answer. Yeah, it’s not the bank’s job to police scammers, but because they are in the position to intercept the false checks, it would really be part of protecting their customers. One of my neighbors recently had someone at the Walmart service desk intervene on her behalf as she was trying to wire money to someone trying to scam her. Very decent of the employee. I called the store and thanked them for being so on the ball. ….and we thought Walmart was 100% evil (turns out only 99% 🙂 )

    • It is walmart policy to detect and even deny to complete these kind of scams. As for walmart being evil I must disagree. y wife has been working there for 5 years +. She makes more well above min wage and gets paid personal time + paid vacation. When we became homeless due to my health walmart granted us two thousand dollars from their employee in need program. The store manager even brought us some groceries. Now does this sound like such an evil corp. My wife started as a cashier and transfer to customer service. She see these scams often. She comes home very exited when she is able to stop a customer from being taken advantage of.

  197. Actually, even if you have sent the money via wire, if they have not picked it up yet, you can get it reversed. You have to call Western Union and let them know to stop the order. This happened to a friend of mine a few years ago and when he told me what he had done, I was sick. We called Western Union and were luckily able to stop payment! And then the scammers actually had the nerve to call my friend later and ask why when they showed up to pick it up that he had canceled it!

    1) The letter sent has no letterhead from a company
    2) The check is ALOT of money
    3) I googled the address on the envelope – and it is a house, not a business
    4) You get emails from so many different people (HR, Walter Anderson, Wal-Mart Coordinator)

I never responded to any of their requests, but they did get my name and address so it must have been from something other than a “secret shopper”. I just got a USPS Priority Mail package and in it was a $1999.00 Check, with the same type of instructions, take out my cut plus and additional amount for the Western Union fees, then send two Western Union check for xxx amount.
    Same thing just a few less steps.

    I was contacted via LinkedIn. I gave basic information.
    A $2,320 check from Nusenda Credit Union out of Albuquerque, NM was sent to the address I provided.
    Instructions stated to purchase four (4) $500 One Vanilla Prepaid Visa cards.
    Instructions said to send shopping details to: [email protected] Greg McClellan.
    The check is a SCAM.

  231. I, too, received one of these e-mails and thought it was legit because it wasn’t filtered through gmail spam. So, I thought it was for a real ss position… wow, I feel stupid even letting them get my mailing address to send me their bogus cashier’s check. Today, I received a priority mail certified mail with contents inside of a Cashiers check from Fulton Bank for over $2800.00! At first, I thought maybe… then I decided to search google for some kind of scam involving this Western Union crap. It said to cash/deposit the CC into my bank (usually I cash checks written to me at the sender’s bank, not mine, so they clear right then and there) account. Well, there’s no Fulton Bank nearby or within anywhere near driving distance, so the only other choice would be to put it in my bank. But here’s another thing they didn’t bank on… I always wait for funds to clear completely before touching anything… and my bank would have noticed it right away even if it was seemingly a Cashiers Check. It had all the same verification methods as any other valid check or CC watermarks, and 13 verification processes and passed all of them. However, I called Fulton Bank to verify if it was a fake or real. They asked me what the check number was on the top right corner of the check and came back on the phone and told me that I was very smart to call and verify before attempting to deposit that CC because it was indeed a fake and I would have been held responsible for all of the withdrawn funds after it came back as fraudulent and by that time, the scammer would be long gone. Instructions said to take the CC, deposit it, it’ll clear within 24 hours, withdraw all of it, send 2500 of it to Istanbul, Turkey to some Bryan person, then immediately notify them by email of the MTCN. The return sender of the envelope said it was from Tina Silvestro, DR NH Jones Elementary School, 1930 Commerce Oak Ave, Orlando, Florida 32808 on the return address spot. Well, I’m personally pissed about this!!!! How in the hell do these people get away with doing this shit? Why put your return address in when you have to know its a fraud and scam? I decided to take further action. I am not rich nor even most times able to keep my head above water and people like this want to try and take what I don’t even have?? That pisses me off! I’m doing something about this and whoever’s involved, clear down to the sender of the envelope I am dragging into it. I looked up the address and name and found the Tina Silvestro in Orlando, FL. If she is involved in this scam, I think her employers and fellow LinkedIN folks should know about it as well. NTM everyone else. That’s the name I am starting with and going from there. People. check the return address of the package sent to you with the enclosed check, M/O, or CC and search the name and address with Google. See what you come up with. I found this person on LinkedIn and on Facebook. I even sent a msg on fb. Also, it could be that whoever really sent it randomly chose a name and address from the local directory and used it but even so, I think if it be the case, she should know what she is now involved in. And, if not, and she did send me this ignorant thief care package, she ought to be ashamed of herself! People with families and kids who work hard for nothing.. all to have it stolen away by some snake in the grass! Well, they were not counting on people like me to strike up a battle. I’m a little more clever than that. But, others may think this is legit and fall for it because they want to believe it’s real because of their current financial hardship. I actually wanted to screw with their heads make them think I did it and send a fake MTCN # and keep em’ going for a while just to play games, and don’t think I’ve blown it yet to still do it. The last email I sent back said, ” Darn, I must have just missed end of business today. Oh well, I guess it’ll have to wait until Monday then, I’m so sorry. I’ll get right on it first thing Monday AM.” Keep them waiting around at WU for as long as possible! Jerkoffs!

  232. I received this in my email. I sent her me email, then thought, “uh-oh” and found this article. I then wrote her back with a link to this article and said, “no, don’t contact me again.” Then I kept getting emails, to which I would reply each time to take me off their list. THEN I got a check for $1750.00 in the mail, with the whole Western Union yadda yadda, and I tried to send it back to the address it came from, but Google Maps shows that address as – huge surprise! – an empty lot surrounded buy other empty lots! SO tomorrow I’m bringing it and all the emails to my police station.

I got it and when I saw the amount I knew it was a scam from back in early 2000’s they tried this w my friend. She’s like well I’ll cash itcand spend it. She didn’t thank God or she would’ve been liable to pay back. Banks should get a list of these and have them up as alerts in the system and not cash them in the first place. Why do banks cash these in the first place? Usually banks hold checks thisvbig til they clear. So what happened

    NO MS shop company is going to send you a check before work is completed. Getting people to deposit checks is an old scam. When you deposit it they get your account info. Naturally, these are not real mystery shopping companies that would do this.

    If you are new to Mystery shopping just know that most shops pay between 10-15. Some are higher and some lower. But that is the average that I see.

  264. Received a check and letter. Check was from Pudue Federal Credit Union. Got suspicious when the grammatical errors of this letter were clearly distinctive. Especially when the letter said “Most part of the funds go to charity.” Beware of these scams, as they are just trying to have you held liable for defrauding your own bank. And never accept money from a company or private person who doesn’t even send your instructions on a letter with company letterhead.

    • The bank will come after you for the money. You will be held responsible for that money. It’s a fake cheque, no good will come of this. Don’t bother. Report it and rip it off. Block them from sending you anymore emails and warn your friends and family. My brother fell for it and they sent him a cheque for $3000.. he cashed it.. they said to keep 500 and Send them the $2500 which he did. And he got held reliable and had to pay back $3000 and if he didn’t he would have went to jail and been charged with fraud.

    • In your e-mail program, there should be a button or a drop-down that will expand the e-mail giving all of the routing and original sender’s address. In my program, it is a drop-down that has several buttons…the one called ‘view source’ shows all….

  283. Just to worn everyone and asking to share and talk to their family and friends please. I have received a text message at 2:33AM in the morning that some human resources is recruiting secret shoppers and to send my name and info…the email has been provided where to send it….and I applied with just my name just to see what was it….so I have received reply message and asking me to provide my full name, address, bank account and so on ( what I did not do)……so I went printed the written e mail and saved text message, I researched it my self, the phone number ( 437 333 6768) I have received a text message from, Name of the company what was ( Micro secret shoppers) and the name of the person who signed the written e mail ( Michael McCoy) company do not even exist, phone number is from Toronto, Wireless ( if it is a company it should be landline) I took all that I found out and went to a police station to talk to them…the police officer said to me that there is 15 different scamers going on around and that I am not the only one who got hit….he said to me that the best I can do ( we all can do) is to block the phone number and write about it….but police is not able to arrest those guys… so please worn your family and friends ( spread the word) and we should protect ourselves…..the best we can….!!!

  284. Oh I am so glad I found this website . I got the exact email and check from Donald Walker. (
    (2925.00 to wire money 850.00 each time using 3 different methods). When I received the check I got a little uncomfortable like why am I using western union and money gram to this other person? I even emailed him and told him I was uncomfortable . And the emails were not professionally written. No company heading ,signatures or department title. So what do I do with the check ?is there somewhere to send them.? Because I definitely know it’s a scam.
    (Insert sarcastic laugh ? esp after reading these other stories. Man people have become very bold.

    • I am from Calgary, AB, Canada.
      I got this exact text message (from a Calgary area code), but the email was: [email protected]

      I got another text from a different number (Edmonton area code), but the same exact message and the email was: [email protected]

      I was interested and thinking about emailing them as I heard of secret shoppers in the restaurant I used to work at. I was assuming that is how they got my number. Micro was the name of the software we used for the computers to ring in orders, so it seemed legit. Good thing I looked it up! Thanks for posting!
