A new iPhone/Android app called WalkIN has come out of Startupbus which allows you to put your name into the waiting list for a table at your favorite restaurant or even multiple restaurants. You just scan in at the restaurant you would like and sit back and relax. Just watch your queue list, grab a drink and be notified when your table is ready. The best part is that you can scan in at multiple locations and watch which one comes available first.
How It Works
WalkIN works in 3 simple steps.
Step 1: Scan
Walk up to the the front of the restaurant, hold your phone up to the QR code and the current wait time will be displayed. If you are satisfied with this wait time, simply hit “get on the list” and you will be added to the list.
If you do not have the app installed, the QR code can be read with any QR code reader on your smartphone and will open up a mobile version of WalkIN’s website that will function in the same way of the app.
Step 2: Relax
Now you are on the list and you can go do whatever you want to do. No longer do you need to sit in range of the pager system for an hour waiting for a table. You can go check out some of the local shops, grab a drink or see the sights while you wait. You can see on your phone all the parties in front of you and you will know when your only one or two parties from being seated.
Step 3: Be Seated
Once your table is ready, your phone will buzz letting your know that it is time to take your seat. It is as simple as that!
For Restaurants
It is simple and free for your restaurant to start using this system. All you need is a tablet or smartphone. The app will keep track of your seated tables and let you know how long they have been seated so that the host knows approximately how long until the table is ready. If someone comes in without a smart phone, they can add this person to the list with just a name and phone number.
Price
Currently this is free to both the consumer and restaurant. The startup is only a few days old, so this may change in the future.
Hi I wanted to know if you consider working with partners to implement the Walkin QR program.
I would be very interested if this is something you would consider.
Thanks in advance
